FAQs
A first of its kind world-class institution for shaping a new kind of public leader.
It is very important that you read the Application Process document carefully before you start applying. Make sure you understand the questions you are being asked and respond to what is being requested. Keep to the word count limits.
Do not narrate the problems of Nigeria in your statement. We all know the problems of the nation. One question asked focuses on your contribution to society. In your response, we want to know what you have been doing so far in terms of solving problems around you. Tell us explicitly what you have done and what you intend to continue to do. In other words, make sure you address/answer the key points asked for in your personal statement. The Golden rule for writing is to stick to +/- 10% of the stated word count. That means that for a statement that requests 750 words, if you submit 500 words or 1000 words, you have failed to follow the instructions and your application will be at a high risk of being disqualified. Answer the questions you are being asked, not the questions you wish for or prefer to have been asked. Give examples for the claims you make- we want verifiable facts that anchor your experience for the Admissions Committee.
Each applicant is required to submit two letters of recommendation as part of the application process. It is advisable to ensure letters come from individuals who can attest to your integrity, leadership skills, and character and who are acquainted with you, your social work, career, and your suitability for the SPPG. All letters must be submitted through the online platform within the specified deadline.
All recommendation letters must be signed, letters should be put on letterhead and the referees must state in what capacity they are recommending you
We advise you to give your referees adequate time to prepare your letters.
Recommendations are expected from the following category of persons.
✓ Manager/Supervisor
✓ Employer
✓ Community Leaders
A professional CV/Resume should highlight your career/professional accomplishments and academic achievements. At most, it should be two pages long. If your CV/Resume is longer than two pages, focus on the most relevant experience connected to your application to the SPPG.

Certificates showing your higher education achievements are critical for the admissions process. Do not send us certificates of professional or community-building programs you attended.

The SPPG program is intensive and requires significant time commitment as we demand 98% attendance. Classes are four days a week- from Tuesdays to Fridays – for 3 hours each evening. You will also have assessments, group discussions, and community projects to complete in order to graduate successfully. We must stress that it is important to check your life and schedule and ensure that you can dedicate the time necessary to the program.
Faculty will assign readings. Readings include diverse texts on African and global contemporary political economy, historical evolution, transforming societies and building leadership. Students are expected to obtain texts and any necessary course materials for themselves.
Classes will be offered primarily through a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) hosted on sppghle.org. After admission, you will be provided login credentials. You also need to have a zoom account. See the list of technical requirements in the Student Learning Guide needed to ensure a seamless learning experience.
